It is absolutely vital to test the water balance regularly to ensure the correct level of sanitizer, the pH, Total Alkalinity (TA), Calcium Hardness (CH) and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
Daily testing for pH and sanitizer is best until you have a handle on what's happening in your particular, unique pool
TA, TDS and CH should be tested for every month
It makes sense to change the water in the pool as infrequently as possible and keeping the pool 'balanced' will delay the time when there is no option to replace all or part of the water
